The Canadian Society for Jewish Studies (CSJS) invites proposals for panels and individual presentations for the annual conference to be held in conjunction with the Congress of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies on May 30-June 1, 2010 at the Concordia University in Montreal. The Canadian Society for Jewish Studies is an educational organization devoted to the study and teaching of Jewish Studies in Canada. Its purpose is to provide a venue for the presentation of Jewish studies research and information primarily for faculty members, graduate students, and independent scholars living in Canada, though residence in Canada is not required for membership.
The annual conference provides an opportunity for scholars to convene and share original research with others in Canada. The Society invites presentations in Jewish studies from a variety of academic disciplines.Presentations are limited to a maximum of twenty (20) minutes and interested participants should submit proposals of 400-500 words by January 8, 2010. The abstract should clearly explain the main argument of the paper. The committee will respond to proposals by February 19, 2010. Graduate students are welcome to present and are asked to send an accompanying letter of support from their academic advisor. Submission of full panels (3-4 papers) will be given priority, but individual papers are accepted as well. All presenters must be current members of CSJS. For more information, see CSJS

As the CSJS annual conference is part of the larger national conference body called the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences under the aegis of the annual conference of the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies (ACJS), CSJS conference participants whose paper proposals have been accepted must register in advance for the Congress by paying the required fees for both the general Congress registration and the ACJS conference registration. Participants will receive details on registration from the Program Chair and are also invited to consult the Congress website for details: www.congress2010.ca. Please note that presentations from individuals who have not pre-registered for the Congress and ACJS Conference will not be included in the Preliminary Conference Program. La Société canadienne des études juives annonce sa réunion annuelle, en association avec l'Association d'études juives canadiennes, qui aura lieu du 30 mai au 1 juin, 2010, à l'Université Concordia, à Montréal, en coopération avec la Fédération canadienne des sciences humaines. Ce congrès vous offre une occasion de présenter une recherche originale sur les études juives. Ceux et celles qui veulent présenter une communication de 8-10 pages (2000 mots) touchant sur un aspect des études juives doivent remettre une proposition de communications en détail (400-500 mots) avant le 8 janvier, 2010. Ces dernières, qui seront évaluées d'une façon anonyme, doivent exprimer l'idée principale de la communication. Les membres du comité seront en contact avec les participants avant le 18 février, 2010. Les propositions d'étudiants inscrits aux 2e ou 3e cycle doivent être munies d'une lettre d'appui de leurs superviseurs académiques. Bien que les propositions de groupe (3 à 4 présentations) soient considérées comme méritant la priorité, les communications individuelles sont également les bienvenues. Puisque la conférence annuelle d'SCEJ fait partie du rassemblement Le Congrès des sciences sociales et humaines, tous les participants de conference d'SCEJ doivent s'inscrire à l'avance au congrès en payant les frais d'enregistrement général du Congrès ainsi que le frais du conférence d'ACJS. Les présentations des individus qui ne se sont pas préinscrits au congrès ne seront pas incluses dans notre Programme préliminaire de conférence. Consultez le site-web
